What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal uses light to heat the pigment in each hair until the follicle stops growing thick hair. We use Sciton's Forever BARE BBL for laser hair removal in Vero Beach, a broadband light that moves over the skin in quick, gentle pulses.
A cooled sapphire tip keeps the skin comfortable, and the large treatment window means bigger areas like legs go quickly. Sciton reports 80–90% hair reduction after 3–6 treatments (manufacturer data).
Who laser hair removal is for
It suits anyone tired of shaving, waxing or ingrown hairs, on lighter skin types (I–III). It works best on hair that is darker than the skin around it.
We can't treat blond or white hair, skin type IV or darker, or tanned skin, and red and grey hair respond poorly. Your provider does a patch test first when it's needed.
How laser hair removal is done
You wear eye protection while the handpiece glides over the clean, shaved area, which takes 15–60 minutes depending on the area. Most people feel gentle warmth, and mild redness fades within a few hours.
We recommend 6–12 sessions spaced one month apart, as hair sheds over 1–3 weeks after each one, then a touch-up once or twice a year.

Laser hair removal questions
How much does laser hair removal cost in Vero Beach?
Laser hair removal at Vero Beach Medical Spa is $250 per session for a small area (face, underarms or bikini), $300 for arms and $350 for legs, chest, back, glutes or abdomen. We recommend 6–12 sessions; a package of 6 saves 10%, a package of 12 saves 15%, and Aesthetics Members save 20%.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
It gives permanent hair reduction, not total removal: most people see a large, long-lasting reduction, and a touch-up once or twice a year keeps results. Over time it usually costs less than years of waxing or shaving, and it reduces ingrown hairs and razor bumps.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Forever BARE is designed for comfort: many gentle pulses with the handpiece always moving, plus a cooled tip. Most people feel gentle warmth, and small areas take only minutes.
How many sessions of laser hair removal will I need?
We recommend 6–12 sessions spaced one month apart, and we'll plan yours at your consult. Hair grows in cycles and the light only reaches hairs in their active growth phase, so a series catches them all.
Can I get laser hair removal in summer in Florida, and does it work on light hair?
Yes in summer, as long as the area isn't tanned or sunburned: avoid sun, tanning beds and self-tanner for 2 weeks before each session and wear SPF 30+ between sessions. Many people start in fall so they're smooth by spring. It needs pigment in the hair, so we can't treat blond or white hair, and red and grey hair respond poorly. It also isn't for tanned skin or skin type IV or darker.
How do I prepare, and what about aftercare?
Shave the area the day before (shaving between sessions is fine, but don't wax, pluck or thread for 4 weeks, because the laser needs the hair root). Come with no lotion, deodorant or makeup on the area, and tell us about new medications, especially antibiotics or acne medication, and pregnancy. Afterwards, avoid sun and use SPF 30+, skip hot tubs, saunas and heavy workouts for 24 hours and exfoliating products for a few days, let shed hairs fall out on their own, and call (772) 907-5848 if you notice blisters or skin colour changes.
